From the Artist: Waverly Sales in Iowa holds a Draft Horse Auction every Spring and Fall.  There is always a lot going on at these events and its easy to find inspiration for paintings here.  I remember reading the great race horse Secretariat was known for stopping to take in his surroundings before entering into new environments.  Couldnt help thinking of that as this tall young Belgian appeared to be doing the same thing.  He was being led out of the barn down to the driving lot but he paused to look around and calmly observe the situation before he continued down into it.
